We replaced an Amana unit with the LG that claimed to be the quietest on the market. It is definitely quieter and we have had it installed for two weeks, running every day, however it is not quiet by any means. There is some type of groan towards shut down that lasts for about 10-15 seconds. It also runs more than the Amana did which I'm sure will result in higher electrical bills. Had this boiler for 2 winters now in MA. First winter was hard. This last one less so. Great product. Made is USA. Cast iron. Will last forever my plumber tells me. Still 84% efficient. Doesn't need yearly maintenance like the higher efficient junk out there. That high efficient junk also requires a power vent that is super loud. Consider that too in your purchase. I used this inline fan to hook up to my vent hood in my kitchen. Even though this product was assembled in America, the motor was made in Germany and you certainly can't go wrong with German technology. I also brought LD10 silencer to attach directly to the fan and placed the silencer between the vent hood and the fan. I also purchased the FC10 clamp to hold the silencer and fan in place. I have 2 of the 30,000 btu units and one 75,000 btu unit. I couldn't be happier with their performance and reliability. I went with these over the competition because of the compact design and the quality that they are built with. The Reznor brand may cost more but I have dealt with other heaters that have failed and caused pipes in the garage to freeze. Now I can leave for days at a time without thinking twice about what's going on back at home in sub zero temps.
